Abstract (EN)

This thesis aims to assess the knowledge levels of healthcare students regarding Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) and HPV-related cancers. The primary objective of this study is to measure the knowledge levels of healthcare students regarding this critical public health issue, raise awareness, and evaluate how this knowledge can influence public health outcomes. The study focuses on critical topics such as low-risk and high-risk HPV types, the effectiveness of vaccines, and early diagnostic methods. The research was conducted using a survey method, targeting students from various healthcare disciplines, including medicine, dentistry, nursing, and midwifery. Participants were asked questions regarding the definition of HPV, its modes of transmission, prevention strategies, the impact of vaccination, and their awareness of HPV-related cancers. The findings were analyzed statistically to evaluate differences in knowledge levels among the participants. The results revealed significant disparities in HPV awareness among the participants. Medical students demonstrated relatively higher knowledge levels, whereas other groups exhibited noticeable gaps in understanding HPV and HPV-related cancers. While a majority of the respondents were aware of the protective effects of HPV vaccines, vaccination rates were found to be low. Although awareness about HPV's sexual transmission and the carcinogenic potential of its high-risk types was widespread, this knowledge was not adequately reflected in practical preventive behaviors. This study highlights the need to address gaps in education regarding HPV and its related cancers among future healthcare professionals. The importance of HPV vaccination and early diagnosis should be communicated to a wider audience, and educational programs should be organized to enhance public health outcomes. Moreover, it is crucial to emphasize the role of sexual health education in improving awareness and preventive practices related to HPV.In conclusion, this thesis underscores the significance of raising awareness and improving the knowledge levels of healthcare professionals as essential steps in preventing HPV-related cancers.
