Abstract (EN)

This study aims to determine the knowledge levels and opinions of healthcare users about euthanasia. A survey prepared by the researcher using the literature was used as a data collection tool in the study and was applied to 704 people receiving service from a public hospital operating in Kayseri. Chi-square test was used to analyze the data. The results of the analysis have shown that the participants think that euthanasia is a medical practice, euthanasia practices will not shake people's trust in medicine, the death wish of a person who has a fatal disease and whose recovery is impossible with medical treatment should not be fulfilled, people who have a fatal disease should not have the right to request to end their lives, and these people should not be given futile treatment. They also think that they and the patients with no hope to recover should not be unplugged from the life support unit, and they would not decide on euthanasia for themselves if they had a non-recoverable disease, but they also should not be given futile treatment.
