An integrated model proposal for dissemination of health services

Lean Approach is an integral approach which is based on eliminating the wastes in the system and the basis of increasing the system activity continuously. Although it is primarily implemented in manufacturing systems, its implementations are seen in service systems and hospitals recently. Health institutions are trying to deal with many problems such as high costs, high stocks and customer dissatisfaction. In addition to this, the aim of profit-making in private hospitals is plunging the executives into various quests while the performance comes into prominence at public hospitals in our country. An efficient hospital management system is required either to provide solutions to the experienced problems or to achieve these aims. Lean approach in hospital management is an important implementation in provision of an efficient management. In this study, an integrated lean model that is expected to be a guide to the hospital management is proposed. The model offers an approach, which may be referable in simplification of either the whole hospital system or each sub-unit of a hospital. The stages of the model consisting of five sections were implemented into a hospital process. In our country today, hospitals have specially utilized the lean implementations in order to compete with the rapidly-developing technology. Lean implementations provide the ability to act quickly with the rivals by reducing the problems experienced in health services, and continuously improving them. The goal is to create a model that reflects to the whole by using lean implementation methods in all units of the hospitals. Stages in the entire process are shown by the model.
