Abstract (EN)
Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the frequency of administration, co-administration patterns, and sociodemographic determinants of non-routine childhood vaccines—namely Serogroup B Meningococcal Vaccine (MenB-4C), Serogroup A, C, W, Y Meningococcal Vaccine (MenACWY), and rotavirus vaccine—within the first two years of life. Materials and Methods: A total of 131 children who attended their two-year follow-up between January 2023 and July 2024 and were regularly monitored during the first two years of life at the child follow-up clinic were included. Sociodemographic data were extracted from medical records, and vaccination status was obtained from the national immunization registry. Results: The administration rates for MenACWY, MenB-4C, and rotavirus vaccines were 33.6%, 29%, and 32.8%, respectively. Among children fully vaccinated with non-routine vaccines (MenACWY, rotavirüs, MenB-4C), both maternal age and maternal education level were found to be significantly higher (p=0.030, p=0.020). The likelihood of age-appropriate MenACWY vaccination was three times higher in children of fathers aged ≥35 (p=0.048). The likelihood of MenACWY vaccination was 7.32 times higher, and MenB-4C vaccination was 4.07 times higher in children of university-educated mothers (p=0.002, p=0.030). For the rotavirus vaccine, the odds of full vaccination were 2.87 times higher in children of university-educated mothers and 4.27 times higher in children of fathers aged ≥35 (p=0.029, p=0.014). Receiving the rotavirus vaccine significantly increased the likelihood of receiving MenACWY (OR: 11.28) and MenB-4C (OR: 20.27) vaccines (p<0.001 for both). Conclusion: Parental age and education are key determinants of non-routine vaccination. Targeted public health strategies are essential to improve vaccine uptake.
