Mollusc fauna of Sakarya River Basin

In order to determine the mollusc fauna of the lakes and streams located in the Sakarya River Basin, totaly in 53 stations four sampling studies were conducted on 23-30 August 2014, 21-27 October 2014, 17-24 May 2015 and 18-23 August 2015. There were no sample found in 9 station. An Ekman Grap and 500μ mesh sized hand-nets were used to collect mollusc specimens. In addition, some empty gastropod and bivalve shells were also collected from the shores of the lakes. As a consequence of the study; 24 Gastropoda species belong to, 11 family; Radix auricularia, Ancylus fluviatilis, Galba truncatula, Valvata piscinalis, Viviparus viviparus, Theodoxus anatolicus, Bithynia tentaculata, Theodoxus fluviatilis, Viviparus contectus, Physella fontinalis, Bithynia pseudemmericia, Bithynia leachi, Potamopyrgus antipodarum, Planorbarius corneus, Graecoanatolica pamphylica, Pseudamnicola macrostoma, Lymnea stagnalis, Succinea elegans, Melanopsis costata, Radix peregra, Physella acuta, Planorbis planorbis, Gyraulus albus, Melanopsis preamorsa and 6 Bivalvia species belong to 3 family; Dreissena polymorpha, Musculium lacustre, Anadonta cygnea, Unio crassus, Pisidium casertanum, Unio pictorum and totally 30 Mollusc species were determined. Among these species Bithynia tentaculata, Bithynia pseudemmericia, Graecoanatolica pamphylica and Pseudamnicola macrostoma are new record for the research area.
