Abstract (EN)
The antioxidant activity and chemical composition of Salvia halophilaHedge and S. virgata Jacq.Which belong to the same group in the familyLamiaceae were investigated. Hexane, ethyl acetate, methanol and 50% methanolextracts were prepared by Soxhlet extraction. In addition, the essential oilfreewater extracts obtained by Clevenger distillation were also analysed. Antioxidantactivity of the extracts were determined using 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl(DPPHâ) radical scavenging activity, β-carotene-linoleic acid co-oxidation assayand linoleic acid peroxidation assay. In addition, the reduction power andchemical composition of extracts were analysed by spectrophotometric (totalphenol, total flavonoids, total flavonols) and chromatographic (HPLC, GC/MS,GC/FID, LC/MS) techniques.
