Abstract (EN)
The main purpose of this thesis is to extensively investigate luminescence properties of polycrystalline Zn1-xSmxB2O4 (x = 1 %, 2 %, 3 %, 4 % and 5 % mole) and Zn1-xTmxB2O4 (x = 0.2 %, 0.5 %, 0.8 %, 1 %, 2 %, 3 %, 4 %, 5 % and 10 % mole) phosphors synthesized through nitric acid method in detail and to determine possibility of use as thermoluminescence (TL) dosimetric material in line with these studies. For this purpose, thermoluminescence and cathodoluminescence (CL) methods were used to determine luminescence properties. In order to determine the structural properties of the synthesized phosphors, XRD, ESEM and EDS measurements were studied. It was determined from XRD analysis that all of the phosphors were in the cubic crystal phase. Although inhomogeneous situations has been observed from the ESEM images due to the agglomeration between the particles, it was observed that the doping ions were well integrated into the crystal structure. It was determined from EDS analysis that both doping ions incorporated into the structure and no other impurity elements are seen. In order to increase the TL signals of undoped ZnB2O4, the highest TL intensity sensitive to beta radiation as a result of doping was observed at the contribution rates of 2 % Sm3+ and 0.8 % Tm3+, and the dosimetric properties of these materials were investigated in detail.
