A thematic analysis of the stories of Samim Kocagöz

Samim KOCAGÖZ is one of the leading writers of Turkish literature of the Republican Era. He lived between 1916 and 1993. Writer produced many kinds of literary products such as story, novel, article, dissertation and memoir. This study comprehends one hundred forty eight stories in his twelve story books.Our study consists of his life, analysis of his stories on the thematic perspective, an interview, some documents about his products and bibliography.In the introductory section, it is mentioned about the concept of theme and the themes which have been seen from the beginning to today in Turkish story telling are expressed. It is tried to determine the place of Kocagöz in this historical process. Furthermore, knowledge about his life and products is given.In the first section, Samim KOCAGÖZ?s stories are classified from the thematic point. Stories processing these themes markedly are introduced.In the last section, the unpublished interview with Şükrü KOCAGÖZ, the son of the writer, about Samim KOCAGÖZ?s life and products is given. In the bibliography part, the works benefited throughout the study are written in alphabetical order. Besides, the bibliography of the articles about the writer in different places are written here.
