Abstract (EN)

The experience of education, which is given in the society and family, and whose roots go back hundreds of years, has emerged with the history of humanity and continues its development with humanity. People have used education without knowing what scientific knowledge is, and without being literate, and they have prepared their future generations, their children, who make up their society, as individuals who are compatible with the society, moral, virtuous, and oriented towards the good and the right. They have allowed their children to learn by living and seeing, and they have supported this with their cultural elements. Over time, this education was replaced by modern education and mostly these educations included education limited to schools. In these trainings, scientifically proven facts were transferred and children were asked to keep up with the changing world conditions and technology. Scientific knowledge is, of course, an indispensable reality, but all of the educational studies carried out until today emerge as a work of experience and knowledge. Societies have been using their own experiences, cultures and cultural elements in the education of children for centuries and consider the benefit of the society in raising individuals, which is the smallest structure that makes up the society. While all this is being done, the information, which is the cultural accumulation of societies that have been going on for centuries, has an important place not to be neglected. The concept of ethnopedogy, which examines the collection, research and use of cultural elements in children's education, is therefore a concept worth investigating and examining. However, in the literature review conducted with ethnopedagogy, it is seen that there are not enough studies and examinations in this field. It was mostly considered as a branch of pedagogical studies carried out during the former Soviet Union, but it was not evaluated as a separate branch in studies. Along with the developing education system of the time, individuals who know their past and have taken lessons from their past should be raised by making use of traditions, customs and cultural accumulations in the education and upbringing of children. For this purpose, it is aimed to examine the science of ethnopedogy, which is an important science in child education, and to use it in child education. The study group of the research consists of 20 people who grew up with the culture of Şanlıurfa in Şanlıurfa. The analysis method to be used in the research is the purposive sampling method. Semi-structured interview form was used in interviews with individuals. The data collection technique, which is preferred in qualitative research, was used to collect oral cultural products such as proverbs, idioms, legends, stories, children's games, tales and folk songs belonging to the province of Şanlıurfa. The results obtained in this study can be expressed as follows: With this study, it can be said that the number of studies, which we can call limited in the literature, will increase and there will be an opportunity to examine the science of ethnopedagogy in detail. In addition, it can be concluded that traditional methods will be blended with modern methods by revealing how societies use their traditional knowledge in education, and cultural values will be revealed by looking at Şanlıurfa region in particular and Turkey in general.
