Abstract (EN)

In spite of the increase in the numbers of the producer companies and the product brands, the gradually growing similarities of the main characteristics of the products and the following competition conditions cause the companies not to reach the sales figures in their growth plans. Taking also into the consideration of the difficulties, which are brought about by the today's economic conditions, the business companies are revising recently their economic growth plans in the short terms and taking the urgent measures. Because of this, recent years, sales promotion, which is an important member of the promotion mix, is used very often by many companies. In the study, the existing literature on the promotion, sales promotion methods, plannig, evaluating these methods and application methods of the sales promotion has been examined and an application study about the sales promotion activities for consumers at drinks conducted. In this study, the purpose was to investigate the relationship between the consumer's demographics like level of education, income, age, marital status, sex and the effects of sales promotion at drink sector on consumer's buying behaviors. The results have indicated that, there is not any relationship between consumer's demographics and the effects of sales promotion at drink sector on buying behaviors. Generally, the consumers make their buyings without the effects of their demographics. Key Words: Promotion, Promotion Mix, Sales Promotion and Consumer Demographics
