Abstract (EN)
Descaling process is the process of removing the iron oxide layer formed on the surface of the semi-finished product which comes out from furnace in hot rolling mills by using pressurized water. In the profile rolling mills, according to the customer's request, various quality billets are used as semi-finished products. The main purpose of the descaling process is to ensure that the surface quality of the finished product is within the standards and the service life of the rolling mill materials is extended. In this study, in a structural steel profile production facility, Kocaer Haddecilik Iron and Steel Factory, descaling system design is made for actively removing the oxide layer formed on the surface of the billet using water resources and energy more efficiently by taking into consideration the production conditions and resources. In this context, the calculation techniques in the literature have been used, material selection has been made from the catalogs of pump and nozzle manufacturers and the materials which will be used in an effective descaling system with minimum water and energy consumption have been determined. Then, the mechanical system which will ensure that the selected nozzles are positioned on the billet is designed. In our country, previously there isn't any academic study about the forming parts of the descaling system which are water unit, pumping station and complete selection and design of the nozzle system. In this respect, this study will be a guide for the design of descaling system in hot rolling plants such as profile or sheet rolling plants.
