Abstract (EN)

Introduction: Unexplained infertility is the situation where pregnancy does not occur even though the couple has had unprotected sexual intercourse for one year, although there is no medical reason to prevent pregnancy Infertility is thought to be closely related to attachment styles formed in childhood. The effect of attachment styles formed in childhood continues into adulthood. This situation is thought to be related to marital adjustment. Marriage is a social institution created by men and women to live together by mutual agreement. This social institution includes sharing a common life, giving birth to a child, sharing the beauty and difficulties of life. Infertile couples cannot assume the role of parenthood, which is a requirement and expectation of marriage. Although this difficult and painful process experienced by individuals can disrupt the balance reached between couples, it can carry a risk factor for dyadic harmony. Purpose: This study aims to examine the relationship between attachment styles and marital adjustment of women receiving Unexplained Infertility treatment compared to the control group Materials and Methods: The study was conducted with 80 women (experimental group) diagnosed with unexplained infertility and 80 control group. Scales and forms were given to the participants face to face and filled. Results: In the study, it was found that there was a statistically significant relationship between attachment styles and dyadic adjustment of women who were treated for unexplained infertility. When comparing the levels of dyadic adjustment of women who received unexplained infertility treatment and who had a secure attachment, it was determined that there was no statistically significant difference only in the sub-dimension of dyadic satisfaction. A statistically significant relationship was found in the sub-dimensions of "couples' commitment", "joint decision of the couples", and "effective expression". A statistically significant relationship was found in the comparison of the dyadic adjustment levels of women who were treated for unexplained infertility and had a secure attachment, compared to the control group. No statistically significant relationship was found in the dimension of affect expression. Statistically significant relationships were found in the comparison of the dyadic adjustment levels of the women who received unexplained infertility treatment compared to the control group
