Abstract (EN)

Selected Motoric and Physiological Characteristics in Sedentary Individuals, Master's Thesis, Institute of Health Sciences, Department of Physical Education and Sports Training, Namık Kemal University, Tekirdağ-2024. This study aims to examine the effects of 8-week anatomical adaptation and strength exercises on selected motoric and physiological characteristics in sedentary individuals. The research was conducted using a pre-test, mid-test, and post-test model, in which participants were evaluated with specific tests before and after the exercise program. A total of 56 adult sedentary individuals participated in the study and were randomly assigned to two groups: the first group (n=33) followed a program consisting of anatomical adaptation and strength exercises for 8 weeks, while the second group (n=23) did not engage in any exercise during the same period. Significant increases in muscle strength were observed in the strength exercise group. This group, focused on resistance training, experienced notable gains in both muscle mass and strength. Participants in this group reported higher energy levels and improvements in overall physical endurance following the exercise regimen. In particular, the strength tests conducted at the end of the exercise program demonstrated significant increases in the intervention group, indicating the positive effects of the exercises on muscle health. These findings suggest that both anatomical adaptation and strength exercises positively influence motoric and physiological characteristics in sedentary individuals. (p<0.05) The results emphasize the potential of exercise programs to enhance the quality of life. In the group performing 8-week anatomical adaptation and strength exercises, positive improvements were observed in balance and vertical jump abilities, while no change was noted in flexibility. (p>0.05) In contrast, the control group, which did not participate in the exercises, showed no positive developments in the specified physiological and motoric characteristics. (p<0.05)
