Issues related to the mahr within the framework of Sarakhsi's al-Mebsut

In our thesis, the subject of mahr is discussed within the framework of Shams al-Aimma al-Sarakhsī's work called al-Mabsūt which is one of the main works of the Hanafi sect. Matters related to mahr are mostly discussed under the title of marriage in the fiqh literature. However, the fact that al-Mabsūt is an encyclopedic work has led to the thought that the subject of mahr can be spread throughout the work of approximately thirty volumes, and it is aimed to investigate the issues related to the mahr in the whole of the work. The thesis consists of Introduction, Two Chapters and Conclusion. In the introduction, information about the purpose and importance of the subject is given. In the first chapter, Sarakhsī's life is discussed. In this way, his scientific personality, the political environment he lived in and his works were examined. The second part is the part that forms the basis of the research. In this section, first of all, the subjects on which the mahr is dealt with in general, based on the information on marriage, as in the systematics of other classical fiqh books, were examined. In the conclusion part, the findings obtained as a result of the research were evaluated. Key words: Sarakhsī, Mabsūt, Islamic Law, Mahr.
