Abstract (EN)
Looking for an alternative location instead of İstanbul, pushed film makers to find a new location in the beginning of 2000. Mardin became a popular location for film makers in that period of time. Especially United Nation's decision to add Mardin in thenominee list of "Unesco World Cultural Heritage" and supportive politics from present government in that period of time contributed greatly. In this study, movies with Mardin theme directed by Sermiyan Midyat were examined from the point of reflected culture and represented locations. In this sense, Hükümet Kadın, Hükümet Kadın-2, Ay Lav Yu and I Lav Yu Tuu are studied with semiotics. How both cultural and spatial elements are reflected and in what way in-dicators became beneficial in the movies that studied can be found at the end of this study.
