The effect of travel motivations on visitor satisfaction and behavioral intentions: A research on domestic tourists traveling for cultural purposes

Abstract (EN)

This study was conducted to determine the effect of local cultural tourists travel motivation on visitor satisfaction and behavioral intentions and to reveal whether travel motivations differ significantly according to demographic factors. The research was carried out with 384 people on the online platform due to Covid-19, with local cultural tourists visiting Konya Çatalhöyük Neolithic City, which was included in the UNESCO World Heritage list as a world heritage site in 2012. The data obtained from the research and the hypotheses created were measured by t and ANOVA tests and simple linear regression analysis. In the result of the research a positively significant relationship was determined between the driving motivations of local cultural tourists and their travel satisfaction, but it was concluded that there was no effect between attractive travel motivations and travel satisfaction. In addition, it has been determined that both travel motivation and visitor satisfaction of local cultural tourists have a significant positive effect on their behavioral intentions. In addition, it was concluded that individuals motivation to travel differ according to their demographic characteristics. In the light of the results of the study, suggestions were developed for academicians working in the relevant field, Konya Çatalhöyük cultural destination and management organizations of other cultural destinations.
