Abstract (EN)

Rivers transport sediments in three different ways: bed load, suspended load and wash load. Natural and human factors cause sedimentation in rivers with excessive deposition, as well as erosion of river beds or coasts. The long-term effects of erosion and sedimentation cause the geomorphological change of rivers. Seyhan River, which is located in the south of Turkey and discharges its water into Mediterranean Sea, is also affected by these factors, and is one of the important rivers that needs to be done scientific research. In this study; sediment transport modelling was carried out on Çakıtsuyu Creek, one of the important streams of the Seyhan River Basin, with the help of HEC-RAS computer software. The bed material of the stream was assessed by doing a field study in Çakıtsuyu Creek in order to be used in modelling. There are 8 sediment monitoring stations in the Seyhan Basin of the State Hydraulic Works, sediment monitoring station data on Çakıtsuyu Creek, one of them, were utilized in this study. As a result of the model, bed erosion varying between 0.5 and 2 m was determined and shown at the relevant cross-sections created for the model in the HEC-RAS environment. The average sediment concentration was calculated as 129.9 mg/l at the end of the study, and total erosion and deposition were also shown, and it was calculated that 180,304.7 tonnes of sediment deposited to the Seyhan Dam Lake within a year.
