Abstract (EN)

Type 2 diabetes mellitus is an important public health problem that is common in society and has many complications. Our aim is to examine antioxidant levels between those who use sglt2 inhibitors and those who do not use sglt2 inhibitors in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients and to see whether using sglt inhibitors affects antioxidant levels. Materials and Methods: It is planned to be carried out on a total of 115 patients, aged between 18 and 65, who were diagnosed with TIP2 DM and followed up in the ENDOCRINE AND METABOLISM DISEASES DIABETES Polyclinic of Yüzüncü Yıl University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine, between February 2022 and March 2023. 53 patients are using sglt2 inhibitors. While evaluated in the group, 62 patients were evaluated as the control group. Our study was conducted as a prospective and descriptive study. Results: In the group using SGLT-2 inhibitors, 30 (56.6%) were male and 23 (43.4%) were female. In the control group, the number of male patients was 29 (46.8%) and the number of female patients was 33 (53.2%). The proportion of case intervals using SGLT-2 inhibitors was significantly (p < 0.05) higher than that of SGLT-2I use. There was no significant difference in natural thiol, total thiol, disulphide, and IMA values between the SGLT-2I and outpatient groups (p > 0.05). Disulfide / native thiol in the group using SGLT-2 inhibitor was significantly higher than the group using SGLT-2 inhibitor (p < 0.05). Disulfide / total thiol in the group using SGLT-2 inhibitor was significantly higher than the group using SGLT-2 inhibitor (p < 0.05). Natural thiol / total thiol was significantly lower in the group using SGLT-2 inhibitor than in the group using SGLT-2 inhibitor (p < 0.05). In female patients, the disulfide, Disulfide / native thiol, Disulfide / Total Thiol values in the group using SGLT-2 inhibitors were significantly higher than the group not using SGLT-2 (p < 0.05). Native Thiol / Total Thiol ratio was significantly lower (p < 0.05). 11 In the group with Hba1c > 7, disulfide, Disulfide / native thiol, Disulfide / Total Thiol values in the group using SGLT-2 inhibitors were significantly higher than the group not using SGLT-2 inhibitors (p < 0.05). Native Thiol / Total Thiol ratio was significantly lower (p < 0.05). In the group with DM Duration < 10 years, the disulfide value in patients using SGLT 2 inhibitors was significantly higher than in the group not using SGLT-2 inhibitors (p < 0.05). Discussion and Conclusion: In our study, while thiols tended to decrease in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients using SGLT-2 inhibitors, disulfide levels increased statistically significantly. Key words: sglt-2 inhibitor, type 2 diabetes mellitus, thiol disulfide homeostasis, ischemia modified albumin level
