Abstract (EN)

Heralded as the first cyber war, case of distributed denial of service attacks of 2007 against the state of Estonia is also examined to understand whether denial of service attacks can be classified as cyber weapons. Stuxnet was found to have fit within the descriptions and definitions of a cyber weapon while the Duqu has been classified as an espionage asset due to operational differences between two state actor borne malware. Denial of service attacks against Estonia did not conform to the cyber weapon or cyber warfare definitions established by the literature. Keywords: Cyber weapons, Cyber warfare, Stuxnet, Duqu
