The relationship between body image, social appearance anxiety and life satisfaction of dialysis patients in Siirt province

In this thesis, the relationship between body image, social appearance anxiety and life satisfaction of dialysis patients in Siirt province was investigated. The model of this research, which was prepared according to the quantitative and cross-sectional method, is relational surveying model. This study was conducted among patients who were routinely connected to the dialysis unit in Siirt Training and Research Hospital and Kurtalan State Hospital. The research sample consists of 50 men and 50 women over the age of 18. Research data were collected through questionnaires and face-to-face. "Demographic Information Form", "Social Appearance Anxiety Scale", "Body Image Scale" and "Satisfaction with Life Scale" were used as data collection tools. The data obtained in the research were analyzed in the SPSS program. In the study conducted, the majority of the 100 patients were determined to be married, secondary school graduates, to have an income of less than 2000 TL. Most of the patients have a history of dialysis between 1-5 years. There is no statistically significant relationship between Social Appearance Anxiety Scale scores and Body Image Scale scores of dialysis patients. There is a statistically significant and negative correlation between the participants' Social Appearance Anxiety Scale scores and Life Satisfaction Scale scores. Accordingly, it can be said that as social appearance anxiety increases, life satisfaction level decreases, while life satisfaction level increases as anxiety decreases. There is no statistically significant relationship between the participants' Body Image Scale scores and Life Satisfaction Scale scores.
