Abstract (EN)

With the increase in the world population and the spread of industrialization, water is getting polluted and due to climate change, drinkable water is decreasing day by day. For this reason, underground water quality and static water balance will be measured regularly and routinely, and analyses will be made for the parameters foreseen in the water samples to be taken at the same time and detailed below. In the Silopi Plain, groundwater is an important source for industrial and agricultural purposes for drinking and use. In order to determine the water quality in the plain, field studies were carried out at certain times of the year and based on the 2023/2024 water year, water wells were selected to cover the plain and water samples were taken from the wells. In the samples taken, Hydrogen Potential (pH), electrical conductivity (EC), dissolved oxygen (DO) and turbidity (NTU) values were read in the field. Chemical analyzes were determined as follows; Calcium (Ca+2), Magnesium (Mg+2) Potassium (K+), Sodium (Na+), Chlorine (CI-), bicarbonate (HCO3-), Sulfate (SO4-2), Carbonate (CO3-2) parameters. In determining the quality of groundwater and determining its suitability for sectoral water distribution, respectively; values were calculated from the equations of sodium adsorption ratio (SAR), Kelly Ratio (KR), sodium percentage (% Na), Permeability index (PI), residual sodium carbonate (RSC) and magnesium ratio (MR). In order to determine the suitability of groundwater as drinking water and for agricultural use, the analysis results of drinking water quality parameters were compared with the acceptable standards of Turkish Standards (TS 266, 2005), World Health Organization (WHO, 2011), European Union (EC, 1998) and US-Environmental Protection Agency (US-EPA, 2008). At the end of the study, the suitability of water quality in terms of drinking-use, industrial and agricultural was evaluated.
