Abstract (EN)

The highway has been used throughout humanity for the advancement of civilizations, transportation, information transfer and trade, and has been one of the most important tools contributing to the development of humanity. The increase in needs with the change of times, the emergence of factors such as population density and traffic load have led to renewals and different design principles in highway design and management. Important topics in design, such as traffic lights, intersections, tunnels and the like, have been detailed over time in line with needs, and comparisons have been made according to their advantages and disadvantages. In this thesis study, the main intersections are discussed, as well as the distinctions of intersection types, the situations and needs in which they are used, and especially the examination and comparison of two of these types, signalized and non-signalized intersections. The first part of the thesis started with the definition of intersection and was completed with the process of examining the mentioned comparison with engineering methods until the conclusion part.
