Natural and in vitro hybridization studies between Solanum melongena l. and Solanum torvum SW.

In this study we aimed to cross Solanum torvum, wild aubergine species, has genes which enable resistance to Fusarium and Verticillium from soil-derived diseasesand, Nematode from parasites withtwo varieties (cv Aydın Siyahı ve Kemer) of the common cultivated eggplant culture forms (Solanum melongena L.) in the natural and in vitro environment, and also we purposed to transfer resistance properties to the culture forms. Land hybridization and seed obtaining, embryo rescue, investigation of pollen viability and tube growth, acclimazation of hybrid plants which obtained from in vitro culture, search of hybrids fertility, media treatments for obtaining embryogenic callus, development of anter culture protocol, in vitro pollination and fertilization, and detecting protoplast fusion on eggplant were studied in the study. The most suitable time for the embryo rescue method of fruits obtained from Aydin Siyahı x S. torvum and Kemer x S. torvum hybrids, in both combinations were determined as 35th day after pollination. The highest plant yield (36.4%) in anther culture studies was shown in 1 mg/l 2.4-D +1 mg/l Kinetin + 120 g/l sakkaroz+ 7 g/l agar media with Aydın Siyahı variety., Microcalluses were obtained from the protoplast cells starting to join after 4 to 6 weeks in the protoplast culture carried out by PEG method.
