Abstract (EN)

External flow over a cylinder is complex because it forms vortices behind the cylinder. In terms of complexity of flow around the cylinders, the investigation of the flow characteristics is of considerable importance. Factory chimneys, towers, planes, columns in buildings, ships, submarines, skyscrapers, cars, suspension bridges, turbines, flow meters, piers of a bridge, heat exchangers, tube bundles are some of the application areas in industry where the effect of flow over the cylinders is significant. In this thesis, the flow structure around the infinite cylinder with circular cross section of areas was analyzed numerically. The first analysis was carried out to determine the flow characteristics around an infinite cylinder for four different velocities. In the second analysis, the flow around the successive cylinders was analyzed depending on the distance between the cylinders and speed. Lastly, the flow around the cylinder at constant surface temperature was examined for four different velocity values to investigate the flow characteristics. Results were analyzed by flow separation, vortexes, pressure distribution, velocity profile, drag coefficients. As a result the input velocities and the distance between the cylinders are of great importance in determining the flow characteristics.
