Abstract (EN)

This study examines the relationship between social network addiction and Fear of Missing Out (FoMO). Quantitative analyses conducted on students at Yozgat Bozok University explore the psychosocial effects of social media usage habits. The main problem of the study is to reveal the interaction mechanism between social network usage habits and psychological effects. A quantitative research method was adopted, and survey techniques were used as the data collection tool. Measurement instruments included Przybylski's FoMO Scale and the Social Network Addiction Scale developed by Karaca, Yıldırım, and Kulaksız. Data obtained from 610 university students were analyzed using the SPSS software, and descriptive statistics, correlation, and regression analyses were conducted to assess the relationship between social media addiction and FoMO. The research findings indicate a strong positive relationship between FoMO and social network addiction. As FoMO levels increase, the duration of social network usage and addiction levels show a significant rise. Particularly, students in health sciences faculties exhibit higher levels of social network addiction and FoMO compared to other faculties. Additionally, female participants have been found to spend more time on social networks, while the psychological and social effects of social network addiction and FoMO on university students have become evident
