The evaluation of using virtual tour in social studies lesson according to the opinions of social studies teachers

The developments in internet and graphic technologies have an impact on education as in every field of life. In this context, it is seen that technological products are used frequently in the field of education. One of these technologies is virtual tour technology. The methods and technics in keeping with multiple intelligence theory have been used since the date that is adopted consructivizm intellection in Turkey. The virtual tour application appeals to visualizationin social studies lesson, especially being 3D, it makes the lesson comprehendible completely. Especially in the social studies course, virtual tour technology is used to see museums, historically and socially important places. In this study, it is aimed to determine the opinions of Social Studies teachers within the framework of Virtual Tour application. In this context, 25 social studies teachers serving in different schools in Bursa were interviewed and their opinions about using virtual tour in social studies lesson were taken. In this study, personal informations are approachted as independent variable; the opinious of teachers about virtual tour are approached as dependent variable Case study, which is method of qualitive research, is used in survey. Case study is to probe a subject by using different methods. As a result of the study, it has been determined that social studies teachers have a high level of desire, effort, embodier, interesting and motiveting in using the virtual tour. Teachers' approaches to the virtual tour did not change according to demographic characteristics such as gender and professional seniority. Teachers emphasized the usefulness of the virtual tour because it provides permanent learning and is cost-effective.
