Abstract (EN)
The transformation that occurs in cities is generally read through interaction of people in the space. Based on this reality, in this study, the transformation process that took place in Siirt province is tried to be read through the "Helvacılar Bazaar" in the center of Siirt. Such an effort requires a deep knowledge of the literature on both space and everyday life. In this direction, symbolic interactionism, phenomenology, ethnomethodology, and Marxist analyses were used, general. At a more specific level, the sociological analyzes of Henri Lefebvre and Michel De Certeau were used for the analysis of space. The sociological analyzes of Erving Goffman were used for the analysis of everyday routines. The sociological analyzes of Pierre Bourdieu were used for the analysis of the individual's capital in everyday life. Migration caused by deep political and social conflicts in the 1990s led to a significant change in the spaces of Siirt. With the migration, the places of Siirt started to include different socio-cultural communities (Arabs, Kurds, and Koçers). At the beginning of these places is the "Helvacılar Bazaar". Due to the different socio-cultural communities it hosts, "Helvacılar Bazaar" has various interaction patterns. This study used a qualitative method; both partial observation and semi-structured or in-depth interviews were conducted. Besides, among the secondary research methods, oral history and archive data were also used. The universe of the research consists of the shopkeepers of the "Helvacılar Bazaar" in Siirt. The research sample is the Arabs, Kurds, and Koçers who make up the different socio-cultural communities of Siirt. In total, 43 people were interviewed during realization phase of the study. The interviewees were selected in a balanced way from different socio cultural communities and sectors. Keywords: Siirt, Helvacılar Bazaar, Socio Cultural Community, Everyday Life, İnteraction.
