Abstract (EN)

The occupation of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, which was established in 1918, by the Red Army of the Soviet Union in 1920, many Azerbaijani Turks, who were fond of freedom and independence, had to leave their homeland. Realizing that they could not continue their literary, political and social activities in their own nation, some political figures, writers and scholars did not accept the oppression-based management of the Soviet ideology and tried to continue their struggles abroad. After the occupation of Azerbaijan by the Russians on April 27, 1920, intellectuals who immigrated to other countries began a new and different period in Azerbaijani immigration. Mehmet Emin Resulzade, who was the founder and chairman of the AHC in this period, gathered the leading intellectuals of the country abroad to fight for the freedom of Azerbaijan. The country that had a great importance in the period of immigration to Azerbaijan was Turkey, which supported the struggle in immigration by constantly publishing magazines in the 1930's. Azerbaijan political immigration publications, which started with the "Yeni Caucasus" magazine published by Resulzade in Istanbul in 1923, continued to operate with the "Azeri Türk" and "Odlu Yurt" magazines published under the leadership of Resulzade. However, after a while, these intellectuals had to leave Turkey as a result of the pressure exerted by the Soviets on Turkey, but their loyalty to Turkey continued. The aforementioned Azerbaijani intellectuals, primarily Ali Bey Hüseyinzade and Mehmet Emin Resulzade, were reorganized in Ankara after the Second World War and continued their national struggle on an intellectual basis.
