Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this research is to determine possible significant differences in the recreation awareness and organizational commitment levels of employees working in a sports institution according to some demographic characteristics. The sample of the research consists of 277 employees working in a sports institution. A personal information form, the Recreation Awareness Scale, and the Organizational Commitment Scale were used as data collection tools. The data were analyzed using the SPSS 25.0 program. According to the research findings, participants' recreation awareness levels and its sub-dimensions (pleasure-entertainment, social success, self-development) were found to be high. Organizational commitment levels, including its sub-dimensions (emotional, normative, and continuance commitment), were also determined to be high. However, no significant relationship was found between recreation awareness levels and organizational commitment levels. In the analysis of demographic variables, no statistically significant differences were found between recreation awareness levels in terms of age, gender, educational status, marital status, length of service in the institution, and weekly recreational activity participation frequency. Similarly, no significant differences were detected in organizational commitment levels concerning age, gender, educational status, marital status, and weekly recreational activity participation frequency. However, significant differences were found in all sub-dimensions of recreation awareness and in the continuance commitment dimension of organizational commitment based on daily free time duration. Additionally, a significant difference was observed in the continuance commitment dimension of organizational commitment concerning the length of service in the institution. The research results indicate that employees have high levels of recreation awareness and organizational commitment, yet no direct relationship exists between these two variables. The findings suggest that recreational activities are influential at the individual experience level but are not directly related to organizational commitment.
