Abstract (EN)

One of the parameters considered to be generally most effective on athletic performance is the maximum oxygen consumption. Maximum oxygen consumption is one of the most reliable principles used in determining aerobic power. Additionally, the difference between the amount of water an individual consumes and loses daily constitutes their water balance. Achieving this balance is critically important in terms of athletic performance. Dehydration is a situation frequently encountered in competitions and training among athletes. During the recovery period, this situation is attempted to be countered through nutrition and fluid intake. In light of this information, the aim of the study is to determine the effects of aerobic power and dehydration levels on recovery in male and female athletes aged 18-29. The study was conducted on 47 male and 47 female athletes (n=94) in the age group of 18-29 at the Faculty of Sports Sciences, University of Mersin. Athletes' age (year), height (cm), body mass index (BMI in kg/height²), and body weight (kg) were recorded in the personal information form. The aerobic power of the athletes was determined by the Cooper test, their dehydration levels were determined by the urine color protocol, and then the multiple sprint test was applied to induce fatigue. Heart rates were calculated for acute recovery levels using a polar watch. The data used in the research were analyzed using the SPSS statistical program. Descriptive statistics related to frequency distributions and average standard deviations of personal information of the participants were performed, and then the normality distributions of the collected data were tested with the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, it was seen that the data set provided a normal distribution. In the tests conducted for the research questions, a simple linear regression test was used to test whether the independent variable predicted the dependent variable. The findings testing the hypothesis in the research were interpreted and the results were supported by tables, and the significance level was accepted as p<0.05 in the analyzes conducted. The effect of aerobic power in athletes on 1 and 5-minute recovery was found significant (p<0.05), while its effect on 3-minute recovery was found to be not significant. The effect of the level of dehydration in athletes on 1 and 5-minute recovery was found significant (p<0.05), while its effect on 3-minute recovery was found to be not significant.
