Abstract (EN)

Geological heritage encompasses natural features that reflect the geological structure, historical development, and evolutionary processes of a region, bearing significant scientific, aesthetic, and cultural value. The protection and transmission of this heritage to future generations are of strategic importance not only for the field of geosciences but also for regional development, sustainable land use, and environmental management. In this study, detailed analyses of the geological structures, tectonic characteristics, rock types, and geomorphological processes of the selected areas were conducted. Through these evaluations, the geological diversity and uniqueness of the regions were identified, and their scientific and natural values were assessed. Based on the findings, conservation priorities were determined, and the potential of these areas to be designated as natural protected sites was investigated. As a result of the geological and geomorphological assessments, the following sites were identified as geomorphosites due to their distinct morphological and aesthetic features: Cehennem Valley, Fıtık Hill, Şerefiye Waterfalls, Feraşin Plateau, Cennet Valley, Hisarkapı Waterfalls, Hemka Waterfall, Mağara Waterfall, Melisa Waterfall, and Zeyvan Waterfall. In contrast, Çemka Waterfall was classified as a geosite, as it represents a significant geological event and evolutionary process within the region.
