Abstract (EN)
Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a disease that is currently prevalent at more adults in world, and its prevalence is increasing, especially in the elderly. In this study we conducted in order to measure the levels of antioxidant enzymes and some elements, hormones and biochemical parameters. The correlation between these quantities was be studied in Iraqi kidney patients. Age had a statistical significance, leading to an increase in the disease at advanced age, especially between the forties and fifties. There were no statistically significant differences in our study with respect to weight. As for catalase, its levels decreased in kidney patients, which indicates that antioxidants have an important role. Therefore, more studies should be conducted in this matter. Regarding the trace elements, their levels were affected in kidney patients. As for the lipid profile, total cholesterol was important and its levels affected, as for the rest of the markers, and despite the presence of statistical differences, they had no diagnostic significance. The levels of urea and creatinine changed and this is normal because they are considered diagnostic parameters for kidney patients. As for parathyroid hormone and ferritin, their average levels have changed significantly, and this leads us to conduct future studies on larger groups of patients to ensure its role in kidney patients.
