Investigatipn of relation shipbetween woven fabric construction an water-oil-soil repellency

In this study, fabric construction, concentration of water-oil and dirt repellent chemical structures were experimentally and statistically investigated according to the features of water-dirt and oil repellency on the woven fabrics. In the theoretical foundations part, the features of polyester and cotton fibers, woven fabric features and knitting structures were explained and according to this study's main subject informations from the past years' studies about water repellent finishing process were given. The aim of this study was to investigate the performance and water repellency characteristics of the cotton-pes blended fabrics of different constructions after fluorocarbon application. For this purpose, approximately 65%Polyester-35%Cotton in 3 different knitting types (plain, 2/2 panama, 5 warp satin), constant warp density (66 warp/cm) and 3 different weft densities (18 weft/cm, 21 weft/cm, 24 weft/cm) 9 different kinds of woven fabrics were produced. 30 g/lt and 60 g/lt fluorocarbon based water repellent chemical finishing process was applied to the produced fabrics. Before and after the Hot and cold calender process, tear strength, tensile strength, elongation at break, abrasion resistance, pilling, water repellent, staining features were measured in accordance with the standards and all the results were analyzed statistically. According to the results obtained from the study, it has been found out that, calendering process before and after the finishing process is an advantage for the strength, abrasion, pilling, water repellent and staining features, effected by weft density, knitting structure and water repellent chemical concentration.
