Abstract (EN)

ABSTRACT Master Thesis SYNTHESIS AND CHARACTERIZATION OF LIGANDS CONTAINING SUBSTITUE IMINE COMPOUNDS AND THEIR Co(II), Ni(H), Cu(II) AND Zn(II) COMPLEXES Siimeyra TUNA Fırat University Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences Department of Chemistry 2004,Page:54 In this study, the ligands of 4-methoxysalicyliden- p-aminoacetophenoneoxime (L'H) and 3-hydroxysalicyliden-p-aminoacetophenoneoxime (L2H) were prepared by the reaction of 4- methoxysalicylaldehyde and 3-hydroxysalicylaldehyde with p-aminoacetophenoneoxime. The complexes were prepared by the reaction of these Schiff base ligands with Co+2, Ni+2, Cu+2 and Zn+2 acetate. Schiff bases obtained have been characterized by their elemental analyses, IR, 1H- NMR, 13C~NMR, magnetic susceptibility and thermogravimetric analyses (TGA). All of the Schiff bases were found to be bidentate ligands involving the imino nitrogen and carboxyl oxygen atoms in the complexes. Metal to ligand ratio were found to be 1 :2 for all of the complexes. Keywords: Schiff bases, imine compounds, transition metal complex
