Abstract (EN)

The foundations of the Ghaznavid State were laid when Altptegin, the Khorasan commander of the Samanids, captured the city of Ghazni in 351/963-963. With Sebüktegin's accession to the Ghaznavid in 366/966-977, the political history of the dynasty continued throught his lineage. After Sebüktegin, his son Mahmud (388-421 988-1030) succeeded him and gave the Ghaznavid State its most glorious period. When the Dandanakan War (431/1040) with the Seljuks during the Masud ended with the defeat of the Ghaznavids, the Seljuks emerged as an independent state in the Khorasan region. The Ghaznavids rulers struggle with internal unrest and the fact that Northern India became the sole objective in foroign policy Show how the political balances changed in the 11'th 12'th centuries. The accession of Behramshah to the throne of Ghazne in 512/1118-1119 and his accession to the throne with the help of the Great Seljuk Sultan Sanjar led to the Ghaznavids becoming a vassal of the Great Seljuk State. After 529/1134-1135, the struggles with the Seljuks and Ghurids, the wrong decisions taken in froeign policy and strategic mistakes caused the Ghaznavid State to weaken and eventually collapse shortly after the death of Behramshah.
