Abstract (EN)

The unbalanced ecosystems and corrupted lifecycles confront us inevitable outcome of consumption of the world's natural resources rapidly and recklessly. Due to the adversely affected renovation features of living areas, the living beings are drifted to annihilation and encountered with global problems as well as serious concerns regarding healthy continuation of future generations. In this case, as a way out "sustainability approach" gains vital importance in terms of life continuity. Therefore; economical, social and environmental elements, based on the depleted energy resources focuses on the possibility and search for sustainability. It is observed that in practical terms; the concept of sustainability is tried to be realized in various areas by various actors in various scales. While approaching the concept of sustainability, due to its structure composed of different disciplines, the necessity of identification of areas and scales emerge. When the concept is approached from architectural perspective; sustainable design principles, sustainable cities and studies in the context of environmentally friendly buildings come to the fore. Parallel to the sustainability design principles throughout the lifecycles of the buildings, to minimize the environmental affects, building certification systems have been established. In many countries Green Building Certification Systems, which are supported by legal legislation, covers the whole process beginning from the design stage to the construction and operation & maintenance. As a result of the evaluation of building features, such systems established based on the certification of structures, supports environmentally buildings for healthy, durable and safe living spaces. In this study; a comparison has been done between LEED Certification System aimed at architectural approaches having sustainability based principles being discussed within the scope of sustainable housing and the first "National Green Certification System/ YeS-TR". On the other hand legal legislation aspects have been evaluated within the scope of Sustainable Progress Principles that take part in the Türkiye's Architectural Policy. Additionally the steps taken regarding to the conversation of the built environment and restructuring have been investigated considering the Sustainable Design and Assesment Criteria within the local and national level as micro scale and the established policy and institutional arrangements as macro scale. Besides, the place of sustainable architecture, sustainable design and specific to green buildings in the light of National Assesment System and related regulations within the developed strategic approaches are discussed. Therefore this study will also raise awareness on this evaluation at the building scale for "pursuit sustainability" with consideration of different disciplines concerning the steps to be taken for a sustainable future.
