Abstract (EN)

Syria has lived for put forward Sunnis and a peace period under the Ottoman Empire. After the Ottoman Empire, the region came under the administration of French mandate. The administration of the French mandate was effective on ethnic and sectarian identities, caused changes in the demographic structure. Nusayri ( Arab Alawi) identity came to the fore and the Nusayris became the elite ruler in Syria with the withdrawal of the French from the region and declaration of the independence of Syria. The Sunnis are in the background. The policies of the minority administration put the people under pressure. In 2010, the starting Arab protests have affected also Syria. The starting protests with reform demand turned into sectarian clashes with some events. Sectarian conflict grew and deepened in Syria with the involvement of many events. Many confrontational groups have emerged. The role of ethnic and sectarian structures as campers and deepening events in Syria will be discussed in thesis.
