Exemination and evaluation of Arabic textbooks used in primary school in Syria

The Arabic language is one of the most widely spoken languages, as it is the official language of twenty-two states in the world. With the encouragement of the Islamic faith, education and training of this language has been given importance in our country. On this occasion, studies on this subject are rich in number. Many materials are used during language teaching. One of them is textbooks. It is important to examine the textbook material used in the teaching of the Arabic language in a country where the official language is Arabic, in teaching this language or in creating material related to it. The Syrian Arab Republic is one of the states whose official language is Arabic. In this study, Arabic textbooks taught at the primary school level covering the first 6 years of the primary education level of the education applied in the Syrian Arab Republic were selected for the purpose of examining and evaluating. In order to contribute to the development of Arabic language teaching, the textbooks used as Arabic language teaching materials in Syria were examined and evaluated in terms of basic language skills in addition to being examined and evaluated in terms of design, form and content. For this purpose, the subject, purpose and literature review of the study are mentioned in the introduction. In the first part, general information about the education system in Syria was given and the general features of the current Arabic textbooks taught in primary schools in this country were examined in terms of design, form and content. In the second part, two of the courses taught in these books were examined and evaluated according to the four basic language skills in language teaching. In the conclusion part, general evaluations and recommendations are given.
