Everyday resilience: exploring narratives of syrian woman i̇n Gaziantep

This study aims to explore everyday experiences and coping strategies of Syrian women who were forced to move to Gaziantep, a city in Southeastern Turkey. Drawing on narrative data from Syrian women living in Gaziantep, this study indicates how women experience particular difficulties, and challenges as a result of forced migration. Indeed, the study aims to bring female migration out of the shadows. A total of 38 in-depth interviews were undertaken with women of different ages, ethnicities and classes. The study finds out those women face particular difficulties due to Immigration Law in Turkey. Additionally, being Syrian and women also increases social exclusion. Nevertheless, the study considers women's strategies and everyday tactics to overcome exclusion and explores the ways in which power relations have been contested through day-to-day practices.
