Psychosocial problems of syrian asylum-seeker child labor and in respect to this social work suggestions

It is known for that as a result of movements of migration, which are as old as the history of humanity and as the simplest process of people's displacement, many people live as refugees today. There is no doubt that children who are at high risk among asylum seekers starting from pre-migration and facing many difficulties throughout the process until the country of asylum. In this process, asylum-seeker children may face dangerous and negative situations such as violence, exploitation, child labor and discrimination of gender and sexual orientation. Child labor is one of the challenges faced off, asylum seekers children in Turkey who are with family or being unaccompanied as a consequence of the war in Syria. Child labor is a hu-man right problem in terms of socioeconomic point of view, as an example of child abuse. It is known that the asylum seeker children worker are separated from their countries and their families who are faced with many different psychosocial prob-lems due to changes in their individual life and adaptation into the different socie-ties. This research has been made to investigating the psychosocial problems of asy-lum seekers child workers who arrived from Syria to Turkey and bring forward so-cial work suggestions for these problem-oriented. In order to reach the group of Syrian asylum seeker child workers, purposeful sampling, snowball sampling, and criterion sampling were used. The study group of the research currently composes of 20 Syrian asylum seeker child workers who have received counseling from "The Association for Solidarity with Asylum Seekers and Migrants Ankara Al-Farah Children's and Family Support Center". In the data col-lection process, "a semi-structured interview form" elaborated by the research stu-dent was used; "the analysis program MAXQDA" was used for the analysis of the qualitative data for this qualitative research. According as the results, the psychosocial problems of Syrian asylum seeker child workers vary by according to their socioeconomic status, asylum seeking ex-perience, being of family and social support systems. From this point of view, in social work interventions to be performed in micro, mezzo and macro level, rights based practices should be instead of the social assistance practice which provides temporary well-being.
