Alteration in historical enviroment evaluated by context of new urban texture and structural design as an example of 'İstanbul Beyoglu- Demiroren Shopping Mall' approach

Conservative preservation of cultural values as a fact component of historical enviroment is before all else accepted since archaic period; and eventually encountering an evident amount of problems, the fact itself is extented into a description of consisting both national and international responsibilities to be given to the domain countr Transfering historical values from past to future generations as achieving continuity in cultural merits; the constitution of a consciousness by means of preservation in society is a must priority. Design criteria such as orienting contemporary material is been used for renewed building constructions well-adjusted with spatial and socio-economical structure of historical urban texture instead of disappearing urban frames due to various circumstances led to demolition. Over the entire course in designing a brand new block in an historical enviroment, constructing buildings harmonized with respect and well-esteem in urban textural frame consisting methods and criteria is a certain necessity. This study mainly focus on a comprehension in preservation of historic enviroment related to conceptual, institutional and legal variations while estimating problems encountered in the process; new design parameters of renewed building construction methods in both urban and architectural scales are defined for guiding designers. By using these parameters and methods, different kinds of analysis have been practised in Beyoğlu Urban Conservation District as a selected area; and as for the chosen example by means of renewed building construction in historical urban texture, "Demirören Shopping Center" has been carefully studied through given design criteria.
