Abstract (EN)

It is seen that historical buildings such as inns, caravanserais, baths, and madrasas that have served various purposes have been used consciously or unconsciously from the past to the present, or have been abandoned by being dysfunctional and have entered the process of extinction. In this way, the aim of this study is to re-functionalize the historical buildings that are about to disappear and bring them back to the society. With the awareness that the priority is to protect the building while re-functioning, the scope of the interventions to be made has been limited. In this context, the example of Behram Pasha Han was discussed, first of all, a general information was given about the historical inn structures, and then information about the architectural features of Behram Pasha Han was given. The positive and negative features of the new function given to the inn were analyzed with examples. It has been concluded that the re-functioning of the building in terms of bringing it to the present day and maintaining its existence in the city memory, although it has negative features, is generally successful.
