Dogubayazid with its history and culture

Doğubayazıt, which has been one of the important settlements and administrative centers since ancient times, in the historical process some changes have been made in its administrative structure. This city, which is formerly called as the center of the province, independent principalities, starboard and Bayezid province, is transformed into a separate district after the city center is moved to Karaköse and its name finally is changed to Doğubayazıt. Today, Doğubayazıt, which is a district of Ağrı province, has been one of the important settlement areas of the region throughout history. Mittans, Urartians, Medes, Persians, Sheddadis, Ayyubids, Byzantines, Sassanids and Ottomans are effective in this region at that time. Between 1372 and 1872, the Kurdish principalities were autonomously ruled for 400 years in Doğubayazıt, the center of the Serhad Principality. Since the end of the 19th century, the Ottomans tried to manage the Bayezid sanjak from the center, and then Dogubayezid firstly was built as city center an then was built as town centre from 1923 till today. In this study, by examining the course of history, developments have been discussed in a specific chronology. In this context, the historical process of Doğubayazıt is subjected to a general evaluation before and after Islam, and archaeological studies, digital data and inconsistencies in written sources are compared and chronological developments are analysed in detail. Recent developments have also been subject to a separate assessment. In this study, which nations and states ruled in and around Doğubayazıt from the Urartians to the arrival of Islam to the region and Republican period, is discussed in chronology. In this context, the historical process of Doğubayazıt's administration from a general center to the pre-Islamic and post-Islamic period is examined and the developments are subjected to a certain evaluation. Recent developments have also been subject to a separate assessment. Some researches and investigations are conducted in and around Doğubayazıt and information is given about the castle, palace, caravanserai, tomb, bridge, madrasah, mosque, masjids and scholars.
