Vowels in ancient Turkish dialects

In our study, vowels and phono events related to them since the Köktürkçe period in which the first written documents are included, in the periods of, respectively, Uygur Turkish, Karahanlı Turkish, Harezm Turkish, Kıpçak Turkish, Çağatay Turkish and Ancient Turkey Turkish are handled.Our study consists of Introduction, Long Vowels and The Sound Events related to them in Ancient Turkish Dialects , Normal Periodic Vowels and Sound Events related to them in Ancient Turkish Dialects, Vowel Harmony in Ancient Turkish Dialects, Conclusion and Bibliography.In the Introduction part, initially the general knowledge about ancient dialects are given. Then, the physiology of sound and its status as a grammar issue are mentioned. Later, the concept of vowel, the vowels in world languages and in Turkish, the characteristics and types of vowels are analyzed.In the part of Long Vowels and The Sound Events related to them in Ancient Turkish Dialects, on the base of long vowels in basic Turkish, long vowels saved in ancient Turkish dialects, and shortening long vowels are examined. The sound events occurred related to long vowels and the sound events that are seen in long vowels are analyzed under separated titles. At the end of this part, the obtained results are given statistically.In the part of Normal Periodic Vowels and Sound Events related to them in Ancient Turkish Dialects, normal periodic vowels in the period of basic Turkish and ancient Turkish are compared with the vowels in other ancient Turkish dialects. As a result of this comparision, the improving process of vowels and the events that are observed in vowels are examined.In the part of Vowel Harmony in Ancient Turkish Dialects, the vowel harmony is analyzed under the titles of back vowels-front vowel harmony and rounded-unrounded vowel harmony. The words and affixes that support and do not support the harmony are aimed to be fixed.In Conclusion, the results that are obtained in the study are given item by item.In Bibliography, the sources that we have applied are given.
