Abstract (EN)

Medical Specialization Thesis / Konya, 2025 In our study, three different groups of glucagon, intravenous lipid emulsion (ILE) and intravenous sodium bicarbonate were examined as potential treatment agents after local anesthetic systemic toxicity (LAST). According to our findings, plasma bicarbonate levels were significantly higher in the group receiving sodium bicarbonate treatment compared to other groups receiving glucagon and lipid emulsion (p=0.002). This suggests that sodium bicarbonate is effective in correcting metabolic acidosis and may play an important role in mitigating toxic effects. In addition, in the light of the results of our study, it was observed that the effectiveness of glucagon was limited compared to other treatment methods, and it was supported that lipid emulsion provides potential benefits in reducing the distribution and effects of toxic substances in the body. However, it should be taken into account that treatment efficacies may differ depending on variables such as patient weight and toxic substance type, and it is considered that more comprehensive controlled studies should be carried out.
