Abstract (EN)

In this study, the Enterococcus existence, antibiotic susceptibility and biofilm formation which is a virulence factor in chicken meat in Kütahya were studied. Totally, 15 hindquarters, 15 wings and 15 full chickens? sample (15 wings, 15 hindquarters, 15 briskets, 15 vertebras and 5 necks) were analyzed. 43 suspected Enterococcus strains which were determined with conventional methods were applied PCR process for diagnosis. The 14 of the suspected strains were identified as E. faecalis and 27 of them were identified as Enterococcus spp. from PCR.Ciprofloxacin, tetracycline, enrofloxacin, ampicilline, erythromycin, and vancomycin resistance were determined in all of the isolated and identified 14 E. faecalis strains.Of 27 Enterococcus spp. strains, 24 of them (88.8%) to ciprofloxacin, 21 of them (77.7%) to erythromycin, 5 of them (18.5%) to trimethoprim+sulfamethoxazole, 22 of them (81.4%) to tetracycline and vancomycin, 23 of them (85.1%) to enrofloxacin, 6 of them (22.2%) to gentamicin and 21 of them (77.7%) to ampicilline were found to be resistant. When the biofilm features of 41 Enterococcus samples were examined, it was determined that there were 13 (32%) negative biofilm, 19 (46%) weak biofilm, 5 (12%) middle biofilm and 4 (10%) strong biofilm production. Keywords: Antibiotic Resistance, Biofilm Formation, Chicken Meat, Enterococcus, PCR.
