Abstract (EN)

Education plays an important role in the development of a nation. Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Government of the Republic of Turkey, has been the pioneer of educational revolutions since the foundation of the republic. During the early years, majority of the country?s population was living in villages and the level of education in the villages was quite low. For this reason, priority was given to the development of educational level in villages. Minister of Education, Mustafa Necati Bey, took important steps towards bringing up village teachers and by the end of 1930s; a more systematic system was adopted. On 17 April 1940, Village Institutes and Regulation of Village Institutes were founded. During the process, between 1940 and 1954, the state of Village Institutes as well as the impact of political developments on education has been thoroughly discussed at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. Keywords: Education, Village, Teacher, Village Institues.
