The effect of supply chain flexibility on supply chain uncertainty and risk: The case of IMES

This study will analyze the role of supply chain flexibility in the face of risks arising from uncertain environments in supply and business processes. In this context, the topics to be researched can be listed as follows: "What advantages do supply chain flexibility practices provide to businesses? What can be done to increase the level of supply chain flexibility practices in the competitive environment? What factors affect the sustainability of supply chain flexibility practices? What uncertainties and risks does excessive supply chain flexibility reveal?" Based on the data obtained from the surveys, statistical analyses were performed on the advantages that supply chain flexibility activities provide to the business, the employees, the businesses and the national economy, and presented for the benefit of the interested parties. The universe of this research is a total of 220 businesses operating in various fields in Istanbul IMES industrial site and the sample is 192 people. The scales used to obtain the data of the research are "Supply Chain Flexibility Scale", "Supply Uncertainty Scale" and "Supply Risk Scale". The data obtained in the research were evaluated by SPSS 22.0 statistical program on the computer. Frequency and percentage analyses were used to determine the descriptive characteristics of the participants, and mean and standard deviation statistics were used to examine the scale. Kurtosis (Flatness) and Skewness (Skewness) values were examined to determine whether the research variables showed normal distribution. As a result of the analyses; "The effect of supply chain flexibility on uncertainty" Supply chain flexibility explains 24% of the uncertainty, that is, 24% of the change in uncertainty is caused by supply chain flexibility; "The Effect of Supply Chain Flexibility Sub-Dimensions on Uncertainty" Supply flexibility affects uncertainty positively, that is, as supply flexibility increases, uncertainty also increases. Supply flexibility explains 65.7% of the uncertainty. Production flexibility affects uncertainty positively, but this effect is weak and limited. Production flexibility explains 13.7% of the uncertainty. "The Effect of Supply Chain Flexibility on Supply Chain Risk; Supply chain flexibility has a positive and significant effect on supply chain risk. It was seen that 11.6% of the supply chain risk was explained by supply chain flexibility and the remaining 88.4% was caused by other factors.
