Abstract (EN)
ABSTRACT The Effect of Oxygenation of the Non-Ventilated Side Lung on Postoperative Complications in Lung Resections Performed with One Lung Ventilation Objective: In this study, the effect of providing passive oxygenation in reducing oxidative stress during lung resections compared to non-ventilated lung and the effect of this strategy on postoperative complications were investigated. Method: 80 patients who were operated on at Pamukkale University Thoracic Surgery service between 2021-2024 were included in the study. The patients were divided into 2 groups of 40 people each. Peroperative non -ventilated lung PEEP and passive oxygenation were applied to the study group. The demographic characteristics of the patients, preoperative respiratory function tests, radiological findings and laboratory results were recorded. Results : 80 patients were included in the study and 63 of these patients (83.8%) were male and 13 (16.3%) were female. Between the groups in the rates of postoperative respiratory, cardiac and non -cardiorespiratory complications. The average operation time in the control and study groups was 138.37 ± 48.46 minutes and 123.62 ± 37.52 minutes, respectively. No significant difference was found between groups. Peroperative need to switch to double lumen ventilation was 11.37 ± 8.24 minutes in the control group , the need to switch to double lumen ventilation in the study group was found to be significantly lower than the control group, at 6.05 ± 5.36 minutes. Conclusions : In this study, IL-6 decreased in the study group in all 4 time periods, indicating that the intervention caused less inflammatory cascade. shows that it is activated and associated with less tissue damage. It is associated with less tissue damage, reduced risk of postoperative complications and length of hospital stay. Double lumen ventilation during the operation will shorten the operation time and significantly increase surgical comfort.
