Assesment of the effectiveness of physiologic voice therapy on unilateral vocal cord paralysis (UVCP) by means of aerodynamic and acoustic analysis

Assesment of the Effectiveness of Physiologic Voice Therapy on Unilateral Vocal Cord Paralysis (UVCP) by means of Aerodynamic and Acoustic Analysis. The aim of this study, is to exhibit effectiveness of applied voice therapy on Unilateral Vocal Cord Paralysis to Multi-Dimensional Voice Program (MDVP) for analyses acoustic characteristics of voice and Phonatorry Aerodinamik System (PAS) for analyses aerodynamic characteristics of voice after and before the therapy is measured. In this study, study group is consisting of 18 participants with UVCP, 6 of them were women and 12 of them were man and who were 31-73 years old. 18 healthy subjects were included in the study as a control group. Then, the voice therapy was applied to the participants for 8 weeks. In this comparison, study group's results of pre and post therapy is that; assessed 5 of 5 parameters in MDVP show significant difference between study and healthy group. According to the parameters of PAS, there were statistically significant difference in 39 parameters in women participants between 18-39 years of age. There was a statistically significant difference in 40 parameters in patients aged 40-59 years. There was a significant difference in the 38 parameters in the male patients between ages of 18-39. There was a significant difference in 44 parameters in male participants aged 40-59 years. There was a significant difference in 17 parameters in male patients aged 60 years and older. Before therapy GRBAS and Voice Handicap Index (VHI) scores show significant difference. After therapy, study group and healthy group's acoustic and aerodynamic measurements statistical data's are like that; included 4 of 5 parameters in MDVP show significant difference between two groups. All GRBAS and VHI scores show statistically significant differences in two groups. According to the parameters of PAS; there were statistically significant differences in 25 parameters between the female patients in the 18-39 age group. While there was a statistically significant difference in 40 parameters in female patients aged 40-59 years. There was a significant difference in 32 parameters in male patients between the ages 18-39. And there was a significant difference in 30 parameters in male patients aged 40-59 years.
